Dolphin, the best maintained Burrell Scenic Showman in the World made in 1925.
The Dolphin' was the last showman's locomotive to be built by Charles Burrell of Thetford, Norfolk. She was supplied new to William S.Davies of Stoke on Trent in September 1925 to work his Orton & Spooner Diving Dolphins scenic ride. In 1937 the engine was acquired by John Shaw of Sheffield and renamed 'The Guv'nor', passing later to H J Wallis of Seaforth, Merseyside, who again renamed her 'The Commando'. She was sold into preservation in 1959, finally regaining her original name, 'Dolphin'. In the mid 1970's she was acquired by Frank Lythgoe of Warburton, near Warrington, joining his stable of 8 showman's engines. She was purchased in 2001 by her present owner, Mike Dreelan of Blairs Aberdeen who has loving restored her to perfection.
